Kasey A. Sturm

Kasey Sturm works with the commercial real estate practice group bringing sixteen years of experience advising individuals, community groups, homeowners associations, businesses, local governments and non-profit organizations on a variety of environmental and land use matters.
She focuses her practice on environmental litigation at the regulatory, administrative, trial and appellate levels. Kasey represents clients on a wide range of land use and zoning matters, including before governmental bodies and appeal boards, as well as in state and appellate courts. She also advises clients on a variety of environmental matters related to land ownership, use and development; represents clients in actions to address damage to property stemming from various environmental conditions, including as a result of storm water flows and sedimentation; compliance and permitting under a wide range of environmental laws, as well as land use and zoning laws and regulations. Kasey also advises clients in non-profit leadership and management, including formation of community groups and non-profit organizations.
Kasey has extensive experience handling citizen suits under a range of federal environmental statutes, including the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act, as well as cases involving property damage stemming from excessive storm water flows and sedimentation. In addition, she has experience counseling and advising clients on environmental, land use and zoning issues impacting their properties and communities.
Dedicated to protecting our natural resources, she began her legal career working with the Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper helping to protect water quality in the Chattahoochee River watershed. She later joined the Georgia Center for Law in the Public Interest (now GreenLaw) as a Staff Attorney, working with several public interest organizations and local community groups to ensure the protection of Georgia’s air, water, land and coastal resources. Her work included grass-roots and community organizing, lobbying, policy initiatives, and litigation in state, federal and administrative courts. From 2004 to May 2016, Kasey was a Senior Associate at Stack & Associates, P.C. where she advised, counseled and represented individuals, corporations and non-profits in a range of environmental and land use matters.
Active in the legal community, Kasey is a member of the American Bar Association, Environmental & Natural Resource Section and Section of Environment, Energy and Resources; State Bar of Georgia, Environmental Law Section (Past Chair, 2013, Elected Officer 2010-2013), the State Bar of South Carolina, Environmental Law Section.
She is admitted to practice in Georgia and South Carolina the U.S. District Court, Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia; the U.S. Court of Appeals 11th Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Kasey was named a “Georgia Rising Star” by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2009 and has been named on the “Georgia Super Lawyer” list since 2014.

Kasey served on the stakeholders committees for the Georgia NPDES General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Construction Activities and the Georgia NPDES Industrial Stormwater General Permits.
She is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, Board Member of GreenLaw, Member and Past Board Chair of Georgia ForestWatch.
