Sold Out: Understanding the New World of Real Estate Commissions
The U.S. Department of Justice recently tipped its hand in a related case of Burnett v NAR et al. indicating that it would support an “injunction that would prohibit sellers from making commission offers to buyer brokers at all”. The Justice Department appears focused on trying to drive down commissions stating that recent revisions by multiple listing services have not “led to a decrease in buyer brokerage commissions.”
Real estate agents have a lot of questions about how commission structures may change in a world where some sellers are not offering to pay the commission of the buyer broker. This class will answer these questions and examine how real estate agents can best position themselves for continued success.
The topics that will be addressed include:
- How best to negotiate, protect and collect your commissions
- How to show property in a world with varying commissions being offered
- Best ways to state your value proposition upfront with potential buyers and sellers
